TITLE: Principal Engineer I
DUTIES: Build technology solutions for data integration projects related to Biller, Ordering, Provisioning, Field Operations and Customer Experience needs. Lead Platform upgrade initiatives and come up with a procedure that can be applied across all environments from sandbox to production. Create high level architecture diagram, system integration flow, access policy needed to integrate various end systems and enhance existing design and monitoring process based on the business needs. Implement monitoring and alerting processes for big data platform needs. Validate vulnerabilities in the assigned areas and come up with upgrade or patch needs and solutions to fix permanently. Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Provide Engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met. Explore new upcoming technologies, compare with existing products or services, and come up with a plan and recommendation for future business needs. Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements. Engage in platform administration in Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, Hive, and Hbase technologies within a software development environment. Utilize Hadoop for distributed storage and processing; Kafka and Mirror Maker to handle real time feeds; Apache Nifi to automate the flow of data between systems; EMR in AWS to support multitenant environment; and Kerbros, AD, Centrify and TLS/SSL for security and encryption procedures. Support, design, develop, automate, and implement Big Data Clusters using Big Data components including Hadoop (HDFS), YARN, Spark, Kafka, Hbase, Cassandra, SOLR, Ranger, Oozie, Sqoop, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Elasticsearch and Map Reduce to enhance data analytic capabilities. Research and recommend options for department direction on Big Data management. Lead code review sessions to validate adherence with development standards; review and provide input into development standards. Influence system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements. Implement, monitor, test, and audit new software programs. Analyze and resolve computer-related problems; consult, advise, and train on specialized features and functions; and follow established configuration and change control processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 5 years of experience in: platform administration in Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, Hive and Hbase technologies within a software development environment; and utilizing Hadoop for distributed storage and processing. 3 years of experience utilizing Kafka and Mirror Maker to handle real time feeds. 2 years of experience: managing Apache Nifi to automate the flow of data between systems; administering EMR (Elastic Map Reduce) in AWS supporting multitenant environment; and utilizing Kerbros, AD, Centrify, and TLS/SSL for security and encryption procedures.
A hybrid (in office and remote) work arrangement is available.
SALARY: $120,203 - $178,600 per year
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40+ hours/week)
