Responsible for guiding the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics and data science solutions to support Charter’s business objectives. Utilizes analytical, statistical, and programming skills to clean, aggregate, and analyze large data sets and interpret results. This position requires a strong command of statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms, as well as a demonstrated practical ability to determine where to invest time, synthesize actionable findings across diverse assignments, and present findings to audiences with diverse agendas and varying levels of technical expertise.

As a Lead Data Scientist, your focus is leading the development of data-driven solutions to Charter’s business problems. You’ll utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to clean, aggregate, and analyze large data sets and interpret results. It’ll be a highly collaborative team environment, colleagues supporting each other as well as Spectrum!

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and executing data science strategies, including designing and implementing analytical models. 
  • Leading and mentoring a team of data scientists and analysts in developing predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as BI, IT, and business units) to identify business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Building and deploying predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses. 
  • Analyzing data to identify insights, patterns, and trends. 
  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of data used in models and projects. 
  • Communicating complex analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the senior leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Be a thought leader and stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data science and analytics.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Data wrangling and statistical modeling as a Scientist, Consultant, Architect, DBA, or Engineer: 10 years, SQL/Python/R: 7 years
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Operations Research, or equivalent experience
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques; Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • Experience with AWS Redshift ML, AWS Sagemaker preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, MicroStrategy).
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data marts, and scalable data models.
  • Skills: Ability to communicate results and recommendations to a wide audience
  • Schedule: Some travel required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of one or more scripting, analysis, or ETL languages with the ability to learn new languages/techniques
  • Familiarity with modern machine learning technology and tools in order to produce model scoring code
  • Desire to continually expand skill set, learn, and teach others
