Looking to advance your accounting expertise in a role that connects payroll, technology and finance? As a Senior Payroll Accountant Spectrum, you’ll analyze and record payroll and accounting data, ensuring compliance and accuracy while collaborating with cross-functional teams. By delivering precise financial insights, you’ll empower management to make informed decisions and drive business success.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Deliver accurate and timely service to internal and external departments
Prepare standard and ad hoc journal entries for month-end close, execute complex account reconciliations and analyze general ledger accounts
Utilize software applications to compile and summarize accounting information for analysis and reporting purposes, presenting results as needed
Review processes to identify opportunities for improvement and standardization
Examine employee and transactional details to validate payroll entries on balance sheet and income statement
Provide insight into data variances, communicate findings and support audit processes
Prepare work papers, reporting requests, analyses and special projects in accordance with management and audit requirements
Assist staff team members with troubleshooting work issues
Execute duties in compliance with GAAP, internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, adhering to company policies
Perform other tasks as requested by supervisors or management

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Experience
4+ years general ledger accounting experience including account reconciliations and journal entries
Skills
Strong knowledge of account reconciliations, journal entries and general ledger account analysis
Proficiency with MS Office, especially MS Excel using pivot tables and vlookups
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, able to convey ideas and issues effectively to all levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to analyze transactions, determine proper accounting and understand variances
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks while meeting deadlines
Effective prioritization and organization skills
Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, delivering quality and accurate service and work products
Attention to detail and ability to understand oral and written communication
Participation in meetings, openness to new ideas and feedback
Ability to use assigned computers and software applications
Knowledge of general accounting theory and concepts
Experience working with general ledger ERP software
Professional attitude dedicated to achieving team results
Flexibility to work hours beyond the normal work week when required
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in Accountancy
Certified Public Accountant
Skills
Familiarity with Oracle HCM or PeopleSoft HRMS (training available for qualified candidates)
Experience with large company General Ledger ERP systems
