JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the implementation of company environmental, health and safety programs and procedures for all business units and facilities within the Management Area that complies with company policies and industry regulatory requirements including reporting. Ensure conformance to applicable federal, state, local standards related to environmental compliance and occupational health and safety (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DEP, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, etc.). Responsible for accident data compilation, abatement, record keeping, safety communication and awareness, and audits of field system(s).


MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively communicate safety and environmental compliance messages to all levels; provide technical support to front-line leadership on matters related to occupational safety, environmental compliance, and loss prevention.
  • Assist in EHS related training as necessary or related; coordinate training plans with managers and supervisors.
  • Perform program audits to continuously check and improve safety & environmental performance, working cross-functionally with the appropriate and affected teams.
  • Investigate incidents and non-compliance events to determine contributing factors/trends and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collect and interpret incident data to identify trends and/or causal factors, such as system failure, human error, incomplete or flawed decision-making, or gaps in existing policies or practices or regulations.
  • Assist with the collection and submission of data required to satisfy environmental permit and reporting requirements (i.e. Air Permit reports, Tier II, HMBP, etc.).
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies on matters related to reporting and/or investigating compliance concerns.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate safety committee meetings as needed.
  • Identify operational risks and propose preventive measures..
  • Assist in implementing programs designed to control, eliminate, and prevent occupational disease and/or injury caused by physical, chemical, biological agents or ergonomic factors.
  • Support manager in keeping management abreast of current safety & environmental performance, potential hazards, serious incidents, regulatory inquires and changes to guidelines affecting safety and/or environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safety & environmental records and other related documentation for designated area of responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to industry specific, local, state and federal regulations as applicable.
  • Know, understand, promote and follow company policies.
  • Coordinate safety & environmental awareness events, evaluations, program deployment, and other related activities.
  • Provide mentoring & technical support to other EHS staff members.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Practical knowledge of company products and services
  • General knowledge of fire prevention programs
  • General knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations
  • General knowledge of the methods for safety & environmental program management.
  • General knowledge of safety & environmental auditing, incident investigation and reporting
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of Field Operations and Field Engineering job duties
  • Valid driver's licenses with satisfactory driving record within
  • Company required standards

Required Education

  • Associate’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health or related field or equivalent experience

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

  • Human Resources/Safety or Technical Training experience - 5
  • OSHA programs/policies experience including audits and accident investigation

Working Conditions

  • Frequent/extended travel = 75% (25% overnight)

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder (approx. 32 ft. high and 90 pounds)
  • Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed
  • Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including gaffs, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts

  • Ability to determine incident root causes and the ability to recommend preventive actions
  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees (Executive to Field)

The base pay for this position generally is between $60,900.00 and $97,700.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
