Software Engineer V
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in managing private and multi-cloud infrastructure within Lab. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating and managing private cloud infrastructure, with a focus on on-premises environments and public cloud providers (AWS, GCP). The primary responsibilities of this role include deploying, managing, and maintaining robust cloud solutions, utilizing tools such as Kubernetes, Rancher, Ansible, Terraform, YAML, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Python, and a solid understanding of OS platforms. Good understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Container as a Service (CaaS).
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Expertise with containerization platforms like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Cloud Infrastructure management: Install, deploy, and manage on-premises cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Configuration Management: Utilize YAML and Helm charts to manage configuration and deployment.
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cluster provisioning and security.
- Monitor clusters and troubleshoot issues related to infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance and parity with production.
- Ability to collaborate with Architecture teams, outline lab requirements, and consume releases to lab.
- Good working experience with on-prem environments (Vcenter) and Infrastructure-as-a-service.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts, AWS services, and virtualization technologies.

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- 3+ years of database management systems experience
- 3+ years of coding, testing and designing software experience
- 3+ years of software development methodology experience
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Proficient in one major programming language/tool; coding language and syntax, usage of functions and object-oriented patterns; environments, docker images, container runtimes, and cloud native app development; dependent systems, e.g., up/downstream APIs, clients, data stores; design patterns and software architecture patterns
- Proficient in micro-services, service-oriented architecture, monolith and anti-micro patterns
- Experienced in applying appropriate software design patterns to the situation
- Possesses demonstrated understanding of code organization of applications and ensures code is written in optimal location; experienced in production operations of developed software
- Ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways; work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, clearly document, present and explain work to technical and business partners, and use time and resources effectively, prioritizing work, establishing and meeting timelines without oversight, and delivering multiple tasks at the same time
- Demonstrates discretion and judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; work with little instruction on day-to-day work
- Showcases multiple interconnected projects/features or an Epic to senior technical leadership and the business
- Demonstrated negotiation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert level knowledge with Kubernetes, OS platforms, Linux, system administration, GitLab, Ansible and Terraform deployment and automation.
- Experience building tools for automated deployment.
- Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab for automated testing, building, and deployment processes.
- Proven experience 3 years in managing on-premises cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency in YAML, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Python.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and virtual machines.
- Expert knowledge in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in cloud environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,330.00 and $156,530.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
