Advanced Video Engineer IV
Are you ready to take charge of engineering activities that maintain and enhance Spectrum's video transportation and delivery systems? In this multi-tiered design, development, and support role, you will collaborate with Video Product & Video Operations teams, customer premise equipment manufacturers, and Supply Chain to provide innovative video solutions. As an Advanced Video Engineer IV, you will lead the development of technical architectures, guide cross-functional technical efforts, and deliver business-critical projects while maintaining high morale and ensuring operational efficiency in line with Video Operations leadership targets.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Participate in testing new firmware, software, and hardware supporting Spectrum’s video solutions
- Implement test plans to validate functional, performance, and business requirements provided by product and engineering teams for video acquisition, processing, and encoding solutions
- Participate in the evaluation, selection, and deployment of new test tools and automation frameworks
- Provide timely and accurate information and status updates to functional leader
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members
- Participate in the development and implementation of standards, policies, and procedures
- Understand the technical roadmaps within Video Operations to ensure compliance with established technical solutions/architectures
- Participate in the development of project cost estimates and schedule forecasts
- Develop, design and implement video transportation solutions
- Work with the field on the implementation of video transportation related projects
- Support operations and work with vendors and engineering, as needed, to resolve customer or redundancy related issues

- May work in Lab or Data Center/Implementation Facility environment
- 24X7 Video Support Operations environment
- Occasional travel as required
- On-Call as needed
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
Experience
- 6+ years of Video and CDN Engineering, Support experience
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Specialized skillset in MPEG2, MPEG4, HEVC H.264 and H.265, Video Delivery systems and CDN
- Specialized skillset in Digital Headend and CPE Control Systems, Encryption Technologies, Session Resource and Mgmt Systems, Back Office environments and interfaces
- Effective troubleshooter of video processing and delivery systems
- Effective writing and communication skills, able to package complex information in an easy to understand way
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
- Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix, Encoders, Video delivery, control and back office systems)
- Infrastructure knowledge (Raw Iron, Steel Cloud, ElasticCloud, OpenStack, AWS, DRM)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems
- Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations and expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace 24x7support environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use the following office equipment: telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Operating systems, Video Delivery and Control equipment and video monitoring systems
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- CCNA/CCNP
- SCTE DVEP
- Linux
- Unix
- Oracle
- Splunk
- Linux, Unix, or other system administration certification are helpful
Skills
- Knowledge of company products and services
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting video delivery or video applications
- Hands on operational experience in performing video devices or systems upgrades, and Break/Fix activities
- Experience with internal or external direct customer contact in a technical environment—Technical, Hub, Headend, VOD or Controller Operations, background within a MSO or vendor network environment

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,200.00 and $156,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
