Job Summary
Looking to shape the future of wireless technology and lead advanced engineering teams? As the Director of Wireless Core Applications Engineering at Spectrum, you will steer technology development, manage cross-functional teams, and influence our wireless core roadmap in collaboration with internal and external partners. Your technical expertise will drive innovation and efficient network expansion, directly impacting Spectrum’s industry leadership.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Responsible for Wireless core related infrastructure and products working in close collaboration with other engineering organizations, product development organizations, vendors, MNO, MVNE & MSO partners and standards and policy organizations.
- Produce Technical Bulletins and relevant technical documentation for Operations to deploy and manage wireless core technologies. Test & certify wireless core software and hardware for the field to deploy. Support the deployment of Wi-Fi ,4G/5G, and provide technical support to operations after deployment.
- Develop and validate new technology to include studying new technology trends, formulating impact statement of such technologies on Charter’s wireless core.
- Validate the capabilities of such technologies through lab evaluation and possibly field trials. Develops a long-term technology evolution roadmap (3-5 years) articulating the strategic decision points, technology evolution plan and recommendations with regard to Wireless core technology. Contribute and represent Charter in relevant industry and standards forums providing leadership with regards to Wireless Core technology evolution.
- Provide specific technical leadership as the subject matter expert in the following areas: Wireless core technology strategy, Technology Solution strategy, Architecture evolution, Technology innovation.
- Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
- Produce detailed timeline for each product release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
- Participate on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
- Ensure financial assurance and alignment, monitors cost optimizations, and maintains continuous process improvements and efficiencies.

Required Qualifications
Education
- BSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent
Experience
- 10+ years of technology development experience
- 7+ years of management experience
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Comprehensive knowledge of wireless technologies including Wi-Fi, 4G-LTE, 5G
- Demonstrated ability to manage the wireless devices & Core Network Function engineering within an organization of a well-known media brand
- Demonstrated experience with a broad range of wireless devices and mobile technologies including Wi-Fi, 4G-LTE and IoT, competency with mobile core (EPC, IMS), Wi-Fi access and mobile core, and key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security
- Able to effectively lead a team of engineers at junior and senior levels
- Experience working with the leading handset vendors such as Apple and Samsung, top MSOs, Telco, satellite operators or major wireless vendor in the U.S.
- Familiarity with the operational experience with Wi-Fi on 4G-LTE as 5G
- Effective written and oral communication skills, effective customer-service orientation
- Strong communication and leadership skills, able to handle multiple projects at one time, able to work under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
Skills
- Expert level knowledge of AAA, PCF, UDM, UDR, NSSF, AMF, CHF and other Core Network Functions as well as the associated protocols
- Deep knowledge and understanding of RedHat OpenShift, CaaS and networking.

The base pay for this position generally is between $124,080.00 and $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
