The base pay for this position generally is between $98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

Do you have the leadership skills to take charge of budgeting, designing, constructing, and supporting cost-effective and scalable network solutions for Spectrum? The Manager, Telephony Engineering role will manage the central office switches deployed by Spectrum, including both Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) and packet-based Voice Over IP soft switches.
Shift Requirements: Mon-Fri 3pm-12am
WHAT OUR MGR, TELEPHONY ENGINEERING ENJOY THE MOST
- Provide both long range and tactical network plans in support of strategic and immediate needs.
- Manage advanced troubleshooting process to resolve complex telephone related outages, collaborating with internal and external resources for prompt resolution.
- Oversee the trouble shooting efforts during major outages.
- Administers enterprise-wide Network Management Systems (NMS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases.
- Manage Switch data architecture to ensure a stable and efficient platform.
- Manage switch hardware, to include Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/ Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) or packet-based switches such as Voice Over IP soft switches.
- Develop processes for integrating switch platforms with billing systems, trouble management systems, LNP (Local Number Portability), LIDB (Line Information Database), and other back-office database systems.
- Document and ensures switch standards are in compliance.
- Advise senior management on advanced telephone network architecture, technologies and protocols.
- Responsible for accurate comprehensive statistical reporting on the health of the switches and associated network.
- Support Switch software upgrades.
- Develop and train TOE team.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Five (5+) years Wireline, Wireless, or Broadband telephony switch installation or administration - 5
- Five (5+) years Voice operations experience in CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) or IXC (Inter-exchange Carriers)
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E certifications or other industry related certifications
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge circuit switching architectures and technology (e.g., SS7 signaling, dial plans, trunking, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of PSTN (public switched telephone network) telephone industry practices, including broad knowledge of Bellcore standards (GR-317, GR394, GR909, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of telephone industry tariffs and applicable rates In-depth knowledge of telephone products and services
- In-depth knowledge of the public switched network designs, technology and architecture
- Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
- Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally while being organized and prioritizing effectively
- Ability to engineer telecommunication carrier networks
- Ability to negotiate effectively and prepare budgets and scopes of work
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
- Ability to provide professional leadership under stressful conditions and work well internally and externally with people from different disciplines and varying degrees of technical and business experience.
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards

Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Spectrum products and services
- Knowledge of MetaSwitch or equivalent VoIP Switch, Packet
- Switching equipment and operation, and TDM transport equipment and operation covering from DS-0 through OC-

- Two (2+) years management or leadership experience
