The Mgr, Network Engineer will be responsible for providing guidance and direction to the Network Engineering team on day-to-day activities regarding monitoring the network, installation sites, trouble isolation and repair of identified and reported problems. As the Mgr, Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the hiring, training, development, and performance management of staff. The Mgr, Network Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring on time deployment of projects, network compliance, and capital budgeting.

  • Provides engineering support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
  • Work with staff to ensure that individual team metrics and goals are being met.
  • Ensures required reports, designs, and purchase requests are timely, accurate and complete.
  • Manage and lead in the development of network designs of changes to the network architecture to support growth, enhancements, and new product launches within area of responsibility.
  • Identify and develop procedures to help streamline processes within Network Services.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance as required for problem resolution.
  • Oversees the daily activities of Network Services and performs direct supervision of team members, including performance reviews, career development, and staffing.
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Create, document, and enforce standard operating procedures and adhere to company policies, guidelines, and configuration standards for all aspects of the network.
  • Establish interfaces with internal border parters and vendor services as necessary to ensure the timely and efficient deployments and resolution of problems.
  • Establishes positive employee relations through effective communication and ongoing support.
  • Performs other duties as requested by manager.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Six (6+) years Network Operations and/or Implementation experience.
    • Two (2+) years Project management experience.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field or related work experience.
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, NOKIA, Ciena, etc.).
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge and experience with Network and Element Management tools.
    • Knowledge of cable, voice and data communications networks, and associated elements.
    • Knowledge of LAN/WAN design and operations, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, SNMP, DWDM.
    • Knowledge of HFC networks, DOCSIS, Optical Transport.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
    • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
    • Ability to supervise and motivate others.
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations.
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Work Environment: 
    • Office environment.
    • Business hours with on-call escalation responsibilities.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with networking equipment with an emphasis on Cisco and/or Juniper routers and switches.
  • Strong working knowledge of switches and routers. Understanding of all OSI layers from application to physical, knowledge of RIP, OSPF, ISIS, and BGP.
  • Experience designing, operating, or troubleshooting DWDM Optical Networks (Nokia, Infinera, Cisco, Ciena, etc).
  • Experience with design, configuration, implementation, support and operation of mesh/star, complex router networks, and IP address structuring.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E) preferred.
  • Cisco and Juniper certifications are a plus.

Preferred Related Work Experience

  • Two (2+) years Management experience in a Networking Operations/Implementation environment.

The base pay for this position generally is between $98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
