Network Engineer I - Third Shift
Job Summary
Are you ready to assist in planning, forecasting, and implementing Spectrum’s network systems? As a Network Engineer I, you will monitor protocol compatibility, develop network enhancements, and recommend improvements while being responsible for implementing network architecture and designs.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Must be able to work the following shift: Saturday through Wednesday from 10PM - 8 AM
- Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
- Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
- Evaluate new products and perform network problem resolution
- Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards, implementing approved methods of procedure
- Monitor protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement
- Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
- Provide tier support across organizations as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
- Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
- Understand and follow company policy
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 0 - 2 years data network experience.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of network devices, network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio
- Intermediate Data Networking Knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Networking)
- Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Skills:
- Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications, and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a team environment, and to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Travel Ability:
- This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy. Eligible employees can work from home up to one day each week.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work the following shift: Saturday through Wednesday from 10PM - 8 AM.
- Office environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
- Skills: Knowledge of company products and services

The base pay for this position generally is between $60,900.00 and $97,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
