As a Network Engineer III, you will design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements, and make recommendations for improvement. You will also be responsible for implementation of network architecture and design. Your work will directly support our mission of delivering reliable, high-quality connectivity services to millions of customers.


WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST

  • Participate in network planning and implementation of approved network architecture and designs.
  • Integrate and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
  • Evaluate new products, performs network problem resolution.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards.
  • Develop and implement approved methods of procedure.
  • Design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Work on projects, systems, issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization.
  • Provide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors.
  • Work on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.
  • Coach less experienced staff.
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Proactively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Performs other organizational project tracking duties as requested by supervisor.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Five (5+) years Network Engineering experience.
    • Minimum four (4) years operating Ethernet, fiber, IP and/or DWDM based networks, architectures / designs.
    • Minimum one (1) year Routing Protocol experience – BGP, IS-IS, MPLS.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications and Microsoft Office.
    • Demonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport).
    • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.
    • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology, using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, basic network devices and basic network appliances and network designing software, such as Visio.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced team environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Office Environment.
    • Participation in on-call rotation for escalation support.
    • Participation in maintenance windows, approximately 2–3 nights per week.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Occasional travel as required.

Preferred Education

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.).

Preferred Related Work Experience

  • Knowledge of company products and services.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
