Are you an experienced engineering leader with a background in code-driven networking? Spectrum is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer I to join our team. The Principal Engineer I leads in the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems of varying complexity. You will deliver results through others by leading and mentoring junior engineers, proactively identifying issues and driving the team to solutions.
WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEER I ENJOY THE MOST
Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.
Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
Tests and reviews system designs.
Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.
Mentors and guides the work of technical staff.
Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements
Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Five (5+) years engineering work experience.
Five (5+) years project management work experience.
Education:
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience.
Technical Skills:
Experience leading the technical design and implementation of large-scale network infrastructure projects.
Experience with network automation and configuration management tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent.
Knowledge of cloud networking principles and technologies, such as VPCs, load balancers, and firewalls in AWS or other on-prem cloud environments.
Familiarity with container networking and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
Design and implement Cisco ACI in datacenters, create a strategy that allows use of containers, cloud orchestration tools for end users and developers.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong experience in designing, implementing, and scaling complex network infrastructure and services
Strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs
Collaborate with application owners to define dependencies, map dependencies for better application workflow within ACI or public cloud use.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of company products and services Experience with Cisco ACI.
Preferred Education
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.).

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
