Are you ready to drive engineering activities that will take Spectrum’s telecommunications and signal processing systems to new heights? As a Principal Engineer I on Spectrum’s WiFi Engineering team, you will design, develop, and validate the core supporting nation’s fastest mobile service and the most advanced WiFi, serving nearly 100 million users and 500 million devices. In this impactful role, you will be responsible for engineering activities that support existing and build new critical network infrastructure supporting Spectrum Mobile Network Wi-Fi offload. Position supports issue triage, replication and resolution for network infrastructure supporting SMN-H/B, SMN-Aerial Access points, venue for SMN core.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Development activities of Wireless Access Gateway, Access Points and Wireless LAN Controllers for SMNMW Core.
Designs, implements, monitors, enhances, and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.
Ensure AP Interoperability with SMNMW core.
Tests and reviews core component designs.
Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.
Mentors and guides the work of technical staff.
Conduct vendor evaluations to reduce hardware, licensing and support costs while standardizing on scalable infrastructure.
Support monitoring of customer user traffic to identify patterns for poor customer experience with extended data modeling.
Knows, understands, and follows company policy.
Performs other duties as requested by manager.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
Master’s or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Experience
5+ years engineering work experience
5+ years project management work experience
Skills
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Experience in network engineering with a strong focus on wifi network technologies (802.11 standards)
Knowledge of wireless standards, such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (WiFi 6/7), as well as WiFi design, site surveys, and RF engineering.
Understanding of core networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, and advanced routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
