As a Software Engineer at Spectrum, you will develop, modify, enhance, and implement software systems designed to support business initiatives. Projects are usually of moderate complexity and require solid knowledge of development technologies and tools. The Software Engineer works in most phases of a project, performs maintenance, and provides technical assistance/advice on existing software solutions.
WHAT OUR SOFTWARE ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST
Code and perform unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution while adhering to business and technical requirements.
Write programs according to specifications, participating in code review to adhere to development standards.
Develop and maintain technical documentation.
Serve as an escalation point to resolve incidents and problems with software supported by the team.
Generate reports and/or data through database management, data administration, and data extraction techniques.
Provide system analysis and recommend designs/requirements for software enhancements with senior team members.
Implement, monitor, test, and audit new software programs to maximize efficiency of software systems.
Participate in continuous performance improvement sessions to discuss opportunities to improve processes and/or standards.
Coordinate with technical teams to analyze and resolve software related problems causing operational difficulties, advising on specialized features and functions .
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications
Experience:
Three (3+) years Database Management Systems.
Three (3+) years coding, testing and designing software.
Three (3+) years software development methodologies.
Education:
BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in JavaScript (including Node.js, React.js, Vue.js), Python, Ruby, and or Golang.
Experience with open source and commercial RDMS and NoSQL databases and MQ technologies, working with DevOps engineers to build and deploy infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies, and test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.
Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding with infrastructure automation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), build automation technologies (Team City, Jenkins) and monitoring technologies (BigBrother, Hobbit, Solar Winds, NetCool, etc.).
Experience with programming languages (JavaScript, Python, Golang, Ruby) and scripting languages (Perl, Shell).
In-depth experience with building APIs and services using prevailing design models (REST, SOAP).
Experience with software security principles and patterns.
Experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Scrum/Agile development methodologies.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
