BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
As a Senior Director, Data Platforms on the THIS team you will be responsible for the underlying data platform and services that enable reporting, analytics, and superior customer self-service experiences. Demonstrates engineering and operational excellence by providing a highly available API platform at web scale. Interfaces at the various levels of the organization to define and provide strategy, development standards, and implement such data solutions that align with our broader corporate strategy and ultimately drive a superior customer experience. Accountable for leading, managing, mentoring, and developing the teams responsible for creating an information advantage for the organization with a focus on scalability, time to market, delivery, operations, and customer experience.
WHAT OUR SENIOR DIRECTOR, DATA PLATFORMS ENJOY MOST
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Oversee Charter’s customer self-service APIs and requisite infrastructures, and Content Management systems that power user experiences.
Drive a culture of data-driven operations by ensuring that all APIs are deeply instrumented and monitored.
Continually increase operational efficiency and availability of all systems and applications.
Embraces cooperation with other Charter teams from Product, to infrastructure and application development.
Drive continual improvements within the data platform and services that allow Charter to decrease time to market for new customer experiences.
Build in native support for canary releases and A/B testing into data services stack.
Ensure vertical leaders are providing forward looking insight into new technologies and capabilities that will allow Charter to innovate and provide amazing customer experiences.
Own the successful implementation of data technologies, architecture, and business-driven initiatives. Champion adoption of systems/tools/processes where appropriate.
Partner with senior leadership on the continuing transformation of Charter into a data and analytics driven organization.
Lead a high-performing development and vertical leader team recruiting, training, coaching and developing effective leaders and staff.
Ensure teams have appropriate support to meet goals and ensure that project risks are identified, mitigated and communicated to stakeholders.
Ensure that the data platform and services are compliant with industry and government regulations, while protecting our data assets with the highest levels of security.
Complete monthly executive summaries of data platforms accomplishments / issues and more generally communicate progress with other technology leaders.
Prioritize initiatives with a keen eye toward business impact.
Instill and reinforce a strong customer service and business-oriented ethic in the entire team.
Manage associated budgets and processes within the Data Platforms function.
Provide strong management and leadership skills with a proactive participative management style.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Telecommunications, Product and/or equivalent experience – 10+ years
- Software engineering team management - 5+ years
- Distributed computing software development - 6+ years
- Experience developing distributed software operating in JVM and on Linux
- Education:
- BA or BS College Degree or related work experience
- Technical Skills:
- Technical leader familiar with reactive platforms like Akka, Node.JS, Play, etc. Exposure to GraphQL based APIs
- Thorough understanding of public cloud infrastructure services capabilities such as AWS
- Thorough understanding of modern micro service and content management architectures that can be employed to provide amazing customer experience on digital platforms at web scale
- Demonstrated understanding of DevOps principles and track record of transforming organizations to apply them in practice
- Skills:
- Demonstrated history of leading people and projects to a successful, high impact outcome
- Effective communication skills: Listening, verbal and written
- Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative
- Team-building, recruiting, and talent management skills are essential
- Act independently or with limited direction

The base pay for this position generally is between $155,600.00 and $275,800.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
