Systems Engineer III

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
As a Systems Engineer in Technology Operations, your work will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases. Responsible for Application Administration of OSS applications supporting all Charter Divisions. Will participate in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions.
WHAT OUR SYSTEMS ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Coordinates with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality.
- Conducts design sessions with appropriate participation from architects and engineers.
- Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems/services.
- Collaborates to creates configuration designs for design and implementation of various environments.
- Creates work effort estimates for new features and bug fixes for use in prioritization and release management.
- Develops core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes.
- Reviews new development tools, application frameworks and testing tools for functionality/effectiveness.
- Installs, administers, configures and maintains OSS applications including operating systems and related software.
- Provides 'on call' support to resolve OSS application issues after normal business hours.
- Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window).
- Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining cloud governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to optimize cloud spending and manage budgets effectively.
- Documents systems configurations and upgrades.
- Designs and implements change and control policies and disaster recovery plans; lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage.
- Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Five years (5+) Application Development work experience.
- Four years (4+) Network OSS application work experience.
- Three years (3+) System Administration work experience.
- Three years (3+) Database support and development work experience.
- Three years (3+) Enterprise Application Integration work experience.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications.
- Technical skills:
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technologies, applications, and trends.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure, software application, and design.
- In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- In-depth knowledge of cloud migration and data management skills with an emphasis on security.
- In-depth knowledge of Python, Bash, and Terraform.
- In-depth knowledge in Linux.
- Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
- Skills/Abililities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to use software design software, such as LucidChart or Visio.
- In-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools.
- Ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications.
- Ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot application problems.
- Ability to effectively transform an operational need into a description of system parameters and incorporate those parameters in the control of the total system development to achieve an optimum, cost-effective balance of all system elements.
- Ability to use personal computer, Microsoft Office, and software applications.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Work Environment:
- Office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven years (7+) Application Development work experience.
- Six years (6+) Network OSS application work experience.
- Five years (5+) System Administration work experience.
- Five years (5+) Database support and development work experience.
- Five years (5+) Enterprise Application Integration work experience.
Preferred Education
- AWS
- Linux, Unix, or other system administration certification are helpful

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
