Telephone Operations Engineer II

Do you have what it takes to manage central office switches and telephony equipment for Spectrum? As a Telephone Operations Engineer II, you will be responsible for operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of both Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) switches and packet-based Voice Over IP soft switches.
Shift Requirements - Wednesday - Saturday 10 pm-9 am
WHAT OUR TELEPHONE OPERATIONS ENGINEER II ENJOY THE MOST
- Conduct daily detailed DNHC process for assigned areas of responsibility. Manage all telephony equipment under limited supervision.
- Follow established guidelines for telephone network daily health check procedures and call out protocols during outage situations. Prepare detailed RCA documentation as a post-mortem for critical outages.
- Configure and troubleshoots SS7, ISUP, and SIP with limited assistance and guides TOE I with execution.
- Perform installation and turn up of Trunk Groups and augments as determined by Traffic and Capacity Team.
- Create mops and plan changes in advance with limited assistance.
- Assume key role in all Residential and Business telephony issues as well as trouble shooting efforts during major outages and provides guidance to TOE I.
- Document switch and telephone network architecture as well as assisting other TOEs in documenting switch and telephone network architecture.
- Support, evaluate, and plan for all core telephony equipment including hardware and software upgrades, changes and expansions. Guides TOE I in implementation.
- Understand telephony circuit architecture concepts, OC12, OC3, DS3, DS1 etc.
- Demonstrate IP knowledge, L2, L3, TCP, UDP and telephony equivalents, ability to troubleshoot IP connectivity issues or CCNT
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience
- Three (3+) years wireline, wireless, or broadband telephony switch installation or administration
- Three (3+) years database management and network configuration work experience
- Three (3+) years telephone Industry experience
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- CCNA/CCIE or other industry certifications
- Skills and Abilities
- Assist in the development of ongoing reporting
- Intermediate ability to troubleshoot during outage situations
- Intermediate knowledge of telephony disciplines (SBC, VoIP Switch, SIP protocol, etc.)
- Ability to effectively work with provider vendors, and maintain professional composure and demonstrate critical thinking during stressful or complex projects
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Spectrum products and services
- Firm grasp of common word processing, spreadsheet, Presentation,
- Design software and concepts
- Firm grasp of TCP/IP standard applications (Telnet, SSH, FTP, SMTP, HTTP)

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
