Are you ready to manage the Spectrum central office switches, taking responsibility for operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning? As a Telephone Operations Engineer III, you will independently resolve the majority of telephony network trouble tickets, provide troubleshooting assistance to entry and mid-level switch engineers, and lead troubleshooting efforts during major outages for both Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) and Voice Over IP soft switches.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Conduct daily DNHC process and manage telephony equipment independently.
Follow guidelines for daily telephone network checks and manage outage protocols. Prepare RCA documentation for critical outages.
Configure and troubleshoots SS7, ISUP, and SIP while coordinating with other engineers. Lead installation and augmentation of Trunk Groups based on Traffic and Capacity Team inputs.
Create and guide the implementation of MOPS for telephony operations.
Take a leadership role in troubleshooting major outages and coordinate efforts across functional areas.
Document switch and telephone network architecture, and assist others in the task.
Develop documentation standards and guide their implementation.
Demonstrate expertise in IP knowledge and troubleshooting, including L2, L3, TCP, UDP and CCNA.
Support, evaluate, and plan for core telephony equipment upgrades and maintenance.
Working Conditions: Office Environment
May work in:
Network Lab environment, 24X7 Network Operations environment, Field Operations environment
Occasional travel as required
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
CCNA/CCIE or other industry certifications
Experience
5+ years Wireline, Wireless, or Broadband telephony switch installation or administration
5+ years Database management and network configuration work experience
5+ years Telephone Industry Experience
Skills
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to troubleshoot during outage situations
In-depth knowledge of telephony disciplines (SBC, VoIP Switch, SIP protocol, etc.)
Ability to effectively work with provider vendors
Ability to maintain professional composure and demonstrate critical thinking during stressful or complex projects
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards
Preferred Qualifications
Skills
Knowledge of company products and services.
In-depth knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, Presentation, Design software and concepts.
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP standard applications (Telnet, SSH, FTP, SMTP, HTTP)

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
