Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and tactical management of RapidScale platform operations.

  • Maintain platform uptime and other key performance indicators within established service level objectives and agreements.

  • Operate RapidScale platforms in accordance with industry best practices in a 24x7x365 environment.

  • Sustain, upgrade, and enhance RapidScale cloud environments and infrastructure, including compute, storage, network, hypervisor, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring platforms.

  • Maintain platform health by remediating hardware failures, optimizing performance and security, resolving errors, and responding to changes in workloads or environmental conditions.

  • Manage upgrades across compute, network, and storage hardware platforms, operating systems, hypervisors, and management and control-plane applications.

  • Identify and execute platform enhancements that improve product capabilities and service levels, reduce costs, increase capacity, and support hardware lifecycle refreshes.

  • Collect, maintain, and analyze operational information necessary to monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR).

  • Optimize the utilization, performance, and capacity of infrastructure assets and resources to cost-effectively maintain established service level objectives.

  • Provide routine and ad hoc reporting on operational KPIs, platform performance, and team activity.

  • Apply methodical troubleshooting practices to scope, diagnose, and resolve complex issues within cloud and managed services environments while minimizing customer impact and service disruptions.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of cloud and managed services solutions, including customer expectations, end-to-end offerings, design constraints, testing methodologies, and operational considerations.

  • Own and ensure timely root cause analysis for defects and incidents identified within production environments.

  • Review and manage infrastructure changes across multiple data centers and customer environments within multi-tenant colocation and cloud environments while mitigating operational risk and service disruption.

  • Escalate trouble tickets as necessary and drive issues through efficient and timely resolution.

  • Track, manage, and optimize capacity across private cloud environments.

  • Track, report, and optimize software license consumption and vendor reporting.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and executing initiatives that reduce failures and defects and improve overall platform performance and reliability. 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 8 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 6years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or 12 years’ experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure implementation, operations, upgrades, and capacity planning.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Willingness and ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and travel up to 25% for work in RapidScale data centers and professional development.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply experience and technical knowledge to complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation.

  • Demonstrated commitment to protecting the confidentiality and integrity of company and customer information, including PHI, PII, contact information, and other personal or proprietary information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and/or Managed Service Provider (MSP).

  • Experience operating within multi-tenant environments from both provider and customer perspectives.

  • Experience defining and maintaining service level objectives (SLOs), service level agreements (SLAs), and operational best practices.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Foundational knowledge and experience across the following areas:

    • Capacity Management: Storage, compute, CPU, memory, and disaster recovery.

    • Microsoft Technologies: Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, SQL Server, Terminal Services, and Exchange.

    • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery: Veeam and Zerto.

    • Monitoring, Logging & Alerting: SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, SIEM, SCCM, and Aria Operations.

    • Technical Documentation: Root cause analyses (RCAs) and related operational documentation.
