As a Data Scientist I, you can leverage your analytical skills to transform complex data into actionable insights, contributing to innovative strategies that drive the company forward. 

WHAT OUR DATA SCIENTIST I ENJOYS MOST

  • Research existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions  
  • Assist in the design and implementation of statistical data quality procedures for existing and new data sources  
  • Leverage knowledge in analytical and statistical algorithms to assist in helping stakeholders explore methods to improve their business under supervision  
  • Assist in the creation of presentation materials under the direction of a supervisor 
  • Participate in planning and monitoring projects from concept through implementation

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum 

Required Qualifications 

  • Education 
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Experience
    • 1+ years of data science experience 
    • 1+ years of programming experience 
  • Skills
    • Ability to perform basic research and analysis as directed by manager  
    • Basic knowledge of core data science principles including algorithms, data structures, and major families of machine learning techniques (regression, decision trees, clustering, time series, SVMs, neural networks) 
    • Minimal experience using a data science toolkit such as Python or R and the ability to learn additional languages as needed, such as Scala or C  
    • Basic level SQL skills  
    • Prior exposure to big data tools such as Spark and Hive  
    • Strong background in mathematical and statistical concepts and the ability to learn new techniques  
    • Exposure to basic concepts in development of data tools and models, scripting, analysis or ETL, and basics of command line interfaces
  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
    • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools like Pandas, Matplotlib, and Tableau.
    • Understanding of statistical methods and data modeling.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply logical thinking to complex data problems.
    • Capability to derive insights from data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Travel Ability

    • Office environment

    • This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days)
