Do you have what it takes to troubleshoot, support, and maintain Spectrum’s networks? As a Network Engineer Operations III, you will provide enterprise-wide tiered support on converged distribution and access network elements and connections as needed. You will also provide support for basic to moderate Spectrum services and other products. Your work will directly impact our mission to keep millions connected.
WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST
Troubleshoot topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols.
Perform network problem resolution and implement approved methods of procedure.
Maintain and supports protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.
Work on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization
Handle escalated trouble calls and work closely with engineering, field technicians, and third-party vendors to resolve service issues.
Work on one or more projects as a project team member.
Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble ticketing system.
Develop problem resolution procedures required to meet serviceability requirements.
Verifies alarms when needed; identify alarm correlations and appropriate response actions for future automation.
Maintains awareness of network activities affecting local elements.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications
Experience:
Four (4+) years network implementation and support.
Four (4+) years gateways and PSTN Links, DHCP, DNS, Servers, HFC Elements, Conditional Access, Video on Demand, IP Video.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, other related field or equivalent work experience.
Certified in ITIL Foundations or Kepner Tragoe and at least one of the following; CCNA, CCDA, SIP SSCA, OC-P, SCTE BTS, or CompVendor coursework.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of hardware, network operating systems and troubleshooting skills, security features like PKI, VPN and Firewalls, ring topology, and optical technologies, OUT-2, OUT-3 (40G), OUT-4 (100G) and OUT-5 (400G) interfaces, optical long haul, including ROADMs and Amplifiers, DWDM, and ITU grid.
Substantial knowledge in at least one of the following DOCSIS, Video, Voice, Security, IP Network, Switching and Routing Architectures, and tunneling technologies such as L2 and L3 VPN’s Optical Network.
Ability to utilize packet analysis tools and be proficient at reading network packet streams.
Substantial knowledge of protocols such as RIPv2, OSPF-TE, IS-IS, IS-IS-TE, BGP, MPLS and SIP.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Demonstrated bridge management skills.
Substantial ability to triage and correlate event/alarms.
Substantial skills to effectively communicate the scope and status of an event, network operations tools and ticketing platforms, and IP, Voice or Video delivery networks.
Working Conditions:
May work in Network Lab environment or 24X7 Network Operations environment.
Occasional travel as required.
