Ready to take your expertise to the next level? As a Construction Line Technician III, you’ll lead advanced network construction tasks, oversee critical installations and repairs, and guide team members with your technical know-how. Your hands-on approach and commitment to high standards will ensure that Spectrum’s networks remain reliable and resilient, directly impacting how communities stay connected.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead advanced construction activities, including digging, trenching, placing conduit and cable, and restoring work areas to company standards.
- Supervise and perform complex network construction and installation activities while ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficient completion of assigned work.
- Monitor and enforce safety and compliance by following Spectrum requirements, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot construction equipment, tools, and vehicles while following established safety procedures.
- Mentor, train, and oversee crew members, helping develop Technician I/II employees in advanced construction skills, safe work practices, and efficient job execution.
- Support daily construction activities across a variety of projects, including network expansions, multi-dwelling unit builds, line extensions, and emergency repairs.
- Travel regularly to assigned territories and company facilities, including overnight stays during the workweek as required.
- Report daily work progress, production, project status, material usage, and any issues or delays to leadership accurately and in a timely manner.
Working Conditions
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and at various heights, sometimes near power lines and electricity
- Encounter dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, cleaning solutions and poorly ventilated indoor spaces
- Stand for 50-70% of the workday
- Travel frequently with hotel accommodation and per diem for overnight stays
- Overtime, weekend shifts, second shift and on-call work may be required
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
- 5 years of technical field experience in construction line work
Skills
- Valid CDL driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Advanced close and peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and differentiate wire sizes and colors
- Ability to lift 75 pounds, carry and operate a 28-foot, 75-pound ladder, and climb poles using gaffs, hooks and a climbing belt (350-pound weight limit)
- Proficient working in tight spaces, crawling, bending, reaching and twisting
- Willingness to travel to assigned territories and work outside in all seasons and weather
- Familiarity with computer systems and software
