BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

As Sr Mgr, Production Operations, you will be responsible for managing a team of production professionals and overseeing the planning, development, and production of all news programming at Spectrum News. You will coordinate coverage of major stories, breaking news, weather, and specials while ensuring that the production, media management, and master control departments are running smoothly. Working closely with other operational and content leaders, you will ensure that all aspects of the business are being met. Your role also involves leading, developing, and training high-performing teams and providing effective coaching to attract and foster talent. You are an essential part of a collaborative team that produces compelling, timely, and accurate newscasts intended to engage and connect with our local audience.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Production/operations experience – 6+ years, supervisory or leadership experience - 3+ years
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or comparable television management work experience
  • Technical skills: In-depth working knowledge of bonded cellular technology, control room switchers, audio boards, and other control room operating systems, ability to utilize a variety of software including but not limited to Microsoft Office and newsroom software programs
  • Skills: Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise written analysis and reports
  • Abilities: Ability to lead people and obtain results through others, ability to anticipate situations and plan for the short and long term, ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, ability to quickly troubleshoot technical issues
  • Schedule: Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to “breaking news” and severe weather emergencies, ability to work weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at an affiliate television station or cable station

Working Conditions

  • Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties on occasion
  • Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift up to 5 pounds
