EMPLOYER: Charter Communications, Inc.
TITLE: Principal Engineer I
DUTIES: Assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems of high complexity. Design and establish protocol compatibility standards. Develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement. Implement network architecture and designs. Participate in mobile device feature and requirements planning, network architecture design, and engineering. Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, signaling links, and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluate new mobile device products and handle problem reporting through resolution. Develop and document mobile device technical requirements based on standards. Perform engineering including designing and establishing Mobile Certification process following 3GPP, WiFi Alliance, or major U.S. carrier operator’s practices. Perform project management in Mobile Certification. Work on projects, systems, and issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization. Provides escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors. Test mobile devices in lab environment including: 3GPP GCF/PTCRB, Carrier Certification, Quality Assurance and Mobile Feature test. Perform networking design, architecture, protocols, and debugging including 3GPP, QXDM, XCAL, Wireshark or automation scripting on Python.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. 5 years of experience in engineering including designing and establishing Mobile Certification processes including at least 1 of the following: 3GPP, WiFi Alliance, or major U.S. carrier operator’s practices. 3 years of experience in: networking design, architecture, protocols, and debugging including at least 3 of the following: 3GPP, QXDM, XCAL, Wireshark or automation scripting on Python; and testing mobile devices in lab environment including experience in at least 2 of the following: 3GPP GCF/PTCRB, Carrier Certification, Quality Assurance or Mobile Feature test. 2 years of project management experience including in Mobile Certification. A hybrid (in office & remote) work arrangement is available.
Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $161,158 per year.

The base pay for this position generally is between $161,158.00 and $196,460.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
