What you can expect in this role 
As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 29, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.

Internship responsibilities may include:

  • Charter Communications is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Inventory Platforms team, providing support for Granite Network Inventory, future inventory applications, and all related integrations. The Inventory Platforms team is responsible for supporting all aspects of network device discovery, reconciliation with existing records, and network inventory management. This role will enable data-driven decision-making; in-time health monitoring; data migration and systems integrations; and automated customer-facing reporting and dashboards.
  • This position will include working on a large-scale new system implementation project, including data standardization across platforms, data migration, and network modeling. This work will combine network device information and hierarchy details across both Charter Network Operations and Spectrum Enterprise, with the end goal of using automation to accurately model the network across a wide range of physical and virtual device types. This position works in an office environment and the team has adopted a hybrid model. Full time remote work is not a currently accepted part of the job.

    • Responsible for assisting in the development of data-driven solutions to Charter’s business problems
    • In partnership with the team, utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to clean, aggregate, and analyze large data sets and interpret results
    • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the internal customer experience during data migration and systems integrations efforts
    • Participate in the execution of requirements gathering, problem formulation, data grooming, data exploration, model prototyping, and model validation.
    • Survey varied data sources for analytic relevance
    • Assist in the design and implementation of data standardization and data quality procedures for existing and new data sources
    • Observe and assist in the communication of complex data science solutions, concepts, and analyses in a clear and effective manner to team members, business leaders, and internal customers
    • Establish links across existing data sources and find new, interesting data correlations
    • Assist in the presentation of data insights and recommendations to key stakeholders
    • Achieve defined project goals within deadline; proactively communicate status and escalate issues as needed
    • Helps to ensure testing and validation are components of all analytics solutions

Here’s what it takes to get started 

Required qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University graduating with a bachelor’s degree between December 2024 - May 2025 
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for Charter Sponsorship

  • Basic experience using a data science toolkit such as Python or R
  • Basic level SQL skills
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to perform in-depth research and analysis
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Knowledge of core computer science principles including algorithms, data structures, and design methodologies
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, operations research, or equivalent

The pay for this position has a salary range of $22.00 to $24.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
